About

Lisa Hopf studied Fine Arts at Bauhaus-University, Weimar, Germany (2012-2019) and lives and works in Leipzig, Germany.

Her artistic practice is characterized by an examination of the relationship between humans and technology. She is interested in the constant striving for optimization of humanity and investigates how dichotomies such as “better“ and “worse“ or “efficient“ and “inefficient“ shape the human environment and ultimately the human being. To do this, Hopf creates sculptural objects from mostly functional materials that are oriented towards everyday objects. By synthesizing functionality and dysfunctionality within these objects, the artist creates an absurd logic to reflect the inherent tensions and contradictions of modern society.
