AN INNOVATION'S GREAT MOMENT
2023
Textiles, PVC, 3D-Print, gears, gear motor, wood, metal,
feet of an office chair

The installation „An Innovation‘s Great Moment“ was developed as part of the Arts & Science Residency “Künstlerische Tatsachen“ 2023.
An analog computer cursor imitates the waggle dance of bees in front of a textile print of the Microsoft Windows XP wallpaper. Inspired by the ultraviolet-perception of bees, the landscape has been alienated by a violet coloring. A greenhouse in green screen color surrounds the cursor.
The installation focuses on how nature and technology adapt to changing conditions. It contrasts human technological adaptations with natural adaptations and investigates human responses to a technology-driven environment. The artistic process was influenced by Zimai Li (Lise Meitner Research Group Social Behaviour, Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology), Frank Hellwig (Systematic Botany, Friedrich-Schiller-University) and Frank Dienerowitz (Engineering Mechanics, Ernst Abbe-University of Applied Sciences).
